Publisher: my advice: don't ever sign a 2-years contract if you can avoid it.
Samsung plans to consolidate its position in China by unleashing its SCH-M709 and SCH-E239 cellphones – 2 extremely popular phones that were previously exclusively available in Korea.
The SCH-M709 offers a 7 megapixel camera while the 15.9mm thick SCH-E239 is meant to eat into Motorola’s RAZR sales. The SCH-M709 improves over the 5 megapixel SCH-M509, upping the ante in China’s premium cell phone market. With this salvo fired, how will Samsung’s rivals react?

The recently released Nokia N70 makes for a decent smartphone at the moment, unless you are willing to hold out for the Nokia E70. The screen is crisp, displaying pictures taken with the 2 megapixel camera nicely. Bluetooth 2.0 and a FM radio are included, all for 599 Euro. Unfortunately, the LED flash is rather lame – but hey, nothing’s perfect.

Cingular and HP announced that the hw6500 series will be available on Haloween via Cingular. This quad-band smartphone comes with an integrated GPS receiver, and high-speed GPRS/EDGE data connectivity. It runs on Windows Mobile 2003 and features a full QWERTY keyboard for typing convenience. A great convergence device, it plays MP3 files to keep you entertained, and has a camera in the 6515 model for those candid moments. Too bad it doesn’t run on Windows Mobile 5.0. A shame, really.
