Samsung Serene First Impressions

Samsung Serene

The Samsung Serene is more than a cell phone – It’s £650 :’[. It also has sleek aluminum clasp casing and tape deck opening mechanism screams of Bang and Olufsen. The iPod style click wheel makes navigation easy even for the noob. There’s not much substance though, although it comes with Bluetooth, a WAP 2.0 browser, an email client, and a skimpy VGA camera. Owners of the Serene are obviously into social standing and looks rather than functionality.

Samsung’s SCH-V700 PMP phone

Samsung's SCH-V700 PMP phone

Samsung’s new SCH-V700 comes with cool PMP capabilities. The phone has a thrifty 200MB memory and a cool rotating display. You can view videos in landscape mode while whipping it back to portrait mode when you entertain calls. Of course, the RS-MMC slot greatly increases the usability of the V700 as a PMP. The next improvement from Samsung ought to be the increase of the screen’s resolution. As usual, the SCH-V700 will be a Korean exclusive.

NEC 343i review

NEC 343i review

“The NEC 343i is O2’s ‘entry level’ handset for the i-mode® service, and many things about it certainly feel entry level. Before I get to that though, I have to mention this phone’s looks: it’s like Apple suddenly started manufacturing mobiles. It’s sleek, it feels great (thanks to the aluminium casing) and for you lovers of minimalist design, it’s single port (used for the only thing you can plug into it, the charger) is the only thing intruding on those sleek lines, and even that’s got a cover. The keys light up blue when you press them too.”

With iTunes for your mobile phone, your songs live right alongside your contacts. Think of it as musical multitasking.
